Serve as a VISTA at one of our sites and make a real impact for a local organization and for our community members! Whether you are new to Louisville or were born and raised here, VISTA is a great opportunity to become part of the city in a new way. Our VISTA members meet monthly and go on occasional outings together, forming a strong network. Many of the VISTAs also collaborate during their VISTA assignment. With resources and support from the VISTA Leader and Project Staff, we want to make sure your year of service is a meaningful experience.
Be a Summer Associate VISTA! Serve for 9-10 weeks during the summer at a local non-profit focused on preventing summer learning loss for K-12 kids and increasing access to healthy food for the community. Click on the positions below to apply today! Applications are due May 8th.
Americana Summer Youth Program Associate – Plan and lead summer educational and enrichment activities for refugee and immigrant youth in Louisville (May 30th – July 28th)
Backside Learning Center’s Gallop into Summer Program Associate – Support children of equine workers at Churchill Downs the Backside Learning Center’s summer reading and activities program (May 22nd – July 28th)
Food Literacy Project Summer Associate – Get your hands dirty while serving at the Food Literacy Project to increase access to healthy food in Louisville, KY (May 22nd – July 31st)
Metro Parks Community Center Summer Associate – Summer associates will work with Community Centers to help provide a welcoming and safe place for food insecure youth (May 30th – August 4th)
Full-Time VISTA Positions
LaCasita Center Grants Writer and Donor Relations VISTA – Enhance the well-being of the most vulnerable in Louisville’s Latino community through education, empowerment, advocacy, and wellness. The VISTA project will create a comprehensive fundraising process that efficiently utilizes grants and donor relations for organizational sustainability.
Metro Parks Volunteer Office Program Coordinator VISTA – Support the volunteer program at Louisville Metro Parks and Recreation’s community centers and Adopt-A-Park program.
KRM Cultural Exchange and Mentoring Coordinator VISTA – Connect newly resettled refugees with community mentors by refining and growing KRM’s cultural exchange and mentoring program.
KRM Community Liaison VISTA – Build Kentucky Refugee Ministries’ capacity for housing and community orientation services to newly-arrived refugees in Louisville.
Adelante Hispanic Achievers Community Outreach VISTA – Strengthen Adelante’s services to Hispanic students and their families in Louisville by improving resource development and volunteer outreach.
