Become a VISTA

Serve as a VISTA at one of our sites and make a real impact for a local organization and for our community members! Whether you are new to Louisville or were born and raised here, VISTA is a great opportunity to become part of the city in a new way. Our VISTA members meet monthly and go on occasional outings together, forming a strong network. Many of the VISTAs also collaborate during their VISTA assignment. With resources and support from the VISTA Leader and Project Staff, we want to make sure your year of service is a meaningful experience.

Backside Learning Center Donor and Development VISTA

Through extensive research, community outreach, and assisting in the implementation of the strategic plan, the BLC Donor and Development VISTA will aim to garner support for a largely invisible but significant population, made up primarily of immigrants, dedicated to an industry which is so vital to the economy and culture of our city and state. BLC programming will continue to expand and strengthen, providing much-needed educational support to both adults and children.

Catholic Charities Community Liaison VISTA

Catholic Charities Migration and Refugee Services (MRS) provides core resettlement services to refugees for up to 90 days and supportive services up to five years. Recently resettled refugees often begin their new lives in the U.S. with no job prospects, little to no English skills, interrupted education, and limited understanding of U.S. cultural systems. The goal of MRS is to provide the resources and support to enable refugees to become self-sufficient. The Community Liaison VISTA project focuses on developing the MRS volunteer program and new sponsorship/mentorship program in order to increase the overall capacity of the agency and to increase the agency’s ability to support newly resettled refugees in Louisville, KY.

Food Literacy Project Educational Resource Coordinator VISTA
