Serve as a VISTA at one of our sites and make a real impact for a local organization and for our community members! Whether you are new to Louisville or were born and raised here, VISTA is a great opportunity to become part of the city in a new way. Our VISTA members meet monthly and go on occasional outings together, forming a strong network. Many of the VISTAs also collaborate during their VISTA assignment. With resources and support from the VISTA Leader and Project Staff, we want to make sure your year of service is a meaningful experience.
The Financial Literacy VISTA Member will develop and expand Americana’s financial literacy resources for refugee, immigrant, and low-income adults to improve and increase employment opportunities for the target population and enable them to be economically self-sufficient. The VISTA member will further work to make the financial literacy initiative sustainable through partnerships, resource development, grant-seeking, and data collection.
The VISTA member at Catholic Charities will focus on strengthening the volunteer program at Catholic Charities Migration and Refugee Services. This position will focus on volunteer recruitment and creating a diverse and committed volunteer team at Catholic Charities. The VISTA will also work with the refugee sponsorship program to streamline the sponsorship process and find new funding sources. This position is a great opportunity to work with volunteers and refugees, and gain valuable organizational and grant writing experience!
The Community Engagement Coordinator VISTA Member will serve to strengthen the Food Literacy Project’s capacity to serve low-income youth by diversifying resource development efforts, and meaningfully engaging stakeholders in our work. The VISTA member will serve to strengthen the Food Literacy Project’s volunteer program by planning and implementing targeted outreach efforts to recruit new volunteers and retain regular volunteers.
The Philanthropy Coordinator VISTA Member at the Food Literacy Project will serve to strengthen the Food Literacy Project’s capacity to serve low-income youth and families through engaging stakeholders and diversifying the organization’s fundraising opportunities.
The VISTA Leader will serve to expand and build the capacity of individual AmeriCorps VISTA members and their respective service sites through the coordination of the Americana Community Center umbrella project, ensuring that members are successful in achieving an optimum service experience that benefits the participating non-profit agencies and the clients they serve. **VISTA Leaders must have been a Peace Corps Volunteer or a full year AmeriCorps Member prior to serving.**
